“The secret to being wrong isn’t to avoid being wrong! The secret is being willing to be wrong. The secret is realizing that wrong isn’t fatal.” – Seth Godin
This is a brilliant quote from an amazing author. And whenever you apply lean startup techniques and do customer validation and tell people about your product, you face all sorts of negative feedback. The fear of rejection, of being ridiculed is a strong instinctive emotion that hinders you from doing the things you should do.
It’s not something that is easy to overcome, but it gets easier as you do it. It’s not easy because you might be wrong, and your assumptions can be proven incorrect. And you feel like you’ve failed. And you did. But you’ve learned so much by failing.
But the most important thing is that this is something that we all MUST DO, in order to advance.
We now call it validated learning followed by pivoting. But it still sucks when it happens. Afterwards though, once you found the way, it feels great. Just that we need to do it all over again. 🙂
